NACE International Given NGO Status by IMO Council
NACE International has been selected for Non-Governmental Organization
(NGO) status by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council.
The IMO is a specialized agency of
the United Nations. Its primary mission
is to create a comprehensive body of international conventions with measures
aimed at safety of life at sea, including
standards for ship design, construction,
equipment, operation, and staffing. In
selecting NACE for NGO status, the
IMO Council recognizes NACE’s worldwide status as a leader in corrosion science. “By including NACE as a resource,
the IMO acknowledges the need to provide greater corrosion prevention and
mitigation guidance to the world’s shipping industry,” stated NACE International in a release.
AkzoNobel Opens Powder
Coatings R&D Center in China
AkzoNobel has officially opened its
Powder Coatings Technology Centre in
Ningbo, Zhejiang province, China.
Located at its existing powder coatings manufacturing site, the Technology
Centre will be home to scientists and
technicians working in R&D relating to
six Centers of Expertise—Automotive,
Architectural,
Furniture, Domestic Appliance, IT, and
General Industrial. “Our
Ningbo research center
highlights the increasing importance of
China in our global strategy. It is consistent with our ambition of deploying
R&D resources in the regions of fastest
growth and major AkzoNobel presence,” says Rob Molenaar, managing director of AkzoNobel Coatings.
